Fish grow fat for the benefit of the crocodile – who rules the river. This Akan proverb highlights that a good leader (crocodile) does not overwhelm his fish and birds but rather lets them grow in and around the sacred pond to gain power and knowledge as this will strengthen his/her kingdom.
